Jane Baxter, Ph.D.

I believe in looking at the identity of the person as a whole, that the eating disorder does not define who they are no matter how much it is on their minds. Looking at the whole person requires knowledge of their mental/emotional health, as well as their physical and nutritional health. I am an addictions specialist as well as a certified personal trainer and sports nutritionist; I studied these areas with great passion and interest because I value understanding these areas and feel each needs to be addressed in order for the individual to fully recover. Please visit my above webpage for more information about my philosophy and treatment approach.

Sarah Godoy, Ph.D., License #PSY1001103

I believe in using an integrative, multidisciplinary approach to eating disorder treatment. This means that I encourage collaboration with dietitians, physicians, and psychiatrists so that we can have the most accurate information and target this issue from multiple angles. In therapy, I have found that it can be helpful for clients to improve their understanding of why they are using food in unhealthy ways-- for some, binge eating is a way to fill chronic feelings of emptiness, restricting is a way to avoid frightening or unpleasant emotions, and purging is a way to get rid of feelings of shame. Whatever the reason, each person has a unique history with food.

Elaine Klionsky, JD, Ph.D., LLC

I seek to establish a collaborative, working relationship with my clients. I believe it's important to listen to the needs of the individual and to recognize that each client's treatment may be different. Many people come to me because they are anxious, depressed, and feeling out of control. While it is important, often critical, that clients gain control over their disordered eating, I believe that effective psychotherapy offers much more to individuals than a behavioral regime which provides some relief from symptoms.

I work with clients to address both the behaviors and the emotional meaning of their eating disorders so that they can not only understand the reasons their eating disorders evolved, but also develop new ways of coping, and more comfort accessing and expressing feelings. I offer my warmth and compassion and work to provide a safe, comfortable environment as we work together through the recovery process.

Many clients I work with are struggling to find comfort and balance due to sudden events or long-standing dissatisfaction with aspects of their life. While I believe every stage of life brings opportunities for growth, times of transition may bring uncertainty, conflict, and loss. I strive to be gentle and empathic, as I encourage clients to go at their own pace, to seek their own truth, and to find their own voice.
