Mirasol

Mirasol is dedicated to the integrative treatment of anorexia, bulimia and binge eating, mood disorders, trauma, and chronic illness. It is gentle treatment, not "boot camp" style. Everyone is treated with dignity and respect regardless of age. We believe that eating disorders are the result of chronic stress and trauma, and emphasize therapies that have proven successful in the treatment of other stress-related conditions. Instead of focusing on suppressing eating disorder symptoms, we identify the root of the problem and develop new ways of communicating and coping that restore and maintain overall balance.

I also incorporate a solution-focused approach to help facilitate change in the client's everyday life. Although I am an overall eclectic therapist, I am a passionate believer in the benefits of Cognitive Behavioral therapy. I was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from the Department of the Army for my exemplary support during the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attack on the Pentagon. I provided the essential services to those affected by the attack and helped the victims begin the recovery process. I facilitate a weekly women's eating disorder therapy group on Tuesdays from 5:30-7:00 p.m.
