In January 20009, Rogers memorial is opening a dedicated inpatient eating disorders program for children and adolescents. The goals for this new inpatient unit include nutritional and medical stabilization (children and adolescents will be monitored by a medical physician who has an extensive background in managing medical complications of eating disorders), comprehensive psychiatric evaluation for identification and treatment of potential co-morbid illnesses, family-focused therapy, and a high level of dietary (dietitian) involvement. The Eating Disorders programs at ProHealth Care’s Behavioral Medicine Center are located within a general medical surgical hospital. This provides an individual the advantage with having medical specialists readily available. Treatment levels include: Inpatient treatment involves a highly structured treatment program of adults; priority is placed on stabilizing physical health and behavior so people can continue treatment successfully in a less restrictive environment. Partial hospitalization is appropriate for people requiring intensive treatment but not 24 hour supervision. Patients are admitted directly into the program or on transition from inpatient treatment. Our flexible schedule includes up to 7 days per week programming and includes meal support for all three meals and snacks. Outpatient treatment may include individual therapy, family therapy, or group therapy in a variety of locations around the community. Community support groups are offered free for eating disorder patient and their friends and family members. The treatment team includes medical director, primary care physician, nurses, dietitian, expressive therapist, social workers, psychologist, and AODA counselors. The program is JCAHO accredited.

The Eating Disorder Program offers several levels of care for patients ages 13 and over who are struggling with disordered eating. They offer inpatient care for stabilization as well as full day partial hospitalization which provides comprehensive programming for patients who are struggling with disordered eating patterns. Their evening program enables their patients to continue with school, work and other family life activities while still providing intensive outpatient therapy for eating disorders. Their programs include family involvement and are designed to help patients develop the skills they need to make lifelong change. Aurora is committed to eating disorder treatment that is evidenced-based and cost effective. The goal of all of their programs is to reduce and/or eliminate eating disorder symptoms within a structured setting.
The Eating Disorder Program at Aurora Psychiatric Hospital uses a number of different approaches including individual, group, family and dietary therapy, education, medication management and movement therapy such as Yoga. Their multidisciplinary team develops individualized treatment plans to meet the needs of each patient. Members of the team include psychiatrists, psychotherapists, group therapists, family therapists, registered dietitians and registered nurses. They offer both adolescent and adult inpatient services. Inpatients receive psychiatric consultation, medical support, dietary information and support, psychoeducation and skills training, family therapy, and art and recreational therapy. Patients keep track of their daily eating disorder urges/behaviors, nutrition consumed, and therapy skills used daily. Their Partial Hospital Program (PHP) provides a structured outpatient environment. In addition, meals and snacks are provided with nutritional coaching and supervision. Patients attend programming Monday through Friday. Aurora also offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) that provides a structured outpatient environment that includes psychoeducation and skills training, dietary information and support, and a supervised therapeutic meal each night of programming. Patients keep track of their daily eating disorder urges/behaviors, nutrition consumed, and therapy skills used daily. The IOP conveniently meets three evenings each week on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
