Treatment Model: I utilize a "non-blame" approach in my practice. I feel this is important, as eating disorders affect not only their "hosts", but also family members and friends of those struggling with eating disorders. I use a variety of therapeutic approaches in my practice, but am probably most partial to cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and family systems. I believe that the "person is not the problem; the problem is the problem." In my work with clients I like to emphasize the strengths, identity, and "uniqueness" of each person. Simultaneously, my clients and I work together to lessen the amount of time and space consumed by the "problem." I often provide family therapy in addition to seeing my clients individually. At times when this is a conflict of interest, I refer to other family therapists. When appropriate, I support the Maudsley approach. I strive to provide a supportive environment for my clients to facilitate growth and recovery.
