Treatment Model: Rock Recovery's program bridges the gap between individual therapy and intensive/residential programs. We make the types of activities one would experience in inpatient and residential programs accessible in the evenings and on weekends. Rock Recovery's program is not a substitute for individual therapy, and not intended for those who are medically unstable and in need of a higher level of care. Our program is ideal for individuals coming out of residential, inpatient, and outpatient programs, and also ideal for those who are "white-knuckling" recovery and seeking to be fully free from their struggles.  Our philosophy of recovery is based on research and the collective experience of individuals who are living in full, long-term freedom from disordered eating. It is our experience that recovery is possible when we step into Truth, lean on Faith, embark in Self-Discovery, achieve Self-Acceptance, live in Community with others.

Rock Recovery treats Anorexia and Bulimia in adult men and women. They also work with Athletes, Compulsive Exercisers, Food Addiction, Binge Eating Disorder, Compulsive Overeating, Laxative Abuse, Night Eating Syndrome and Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD).

Center For Discovery Fairfax

Residential, Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient

Address: 5343 Summit Drive, Fairfax, VA

Additional Communities Served: Nationwide

Office:  866-846-8597

Website: www.centerfordiscoveryvirginia.com

Email: info@centerfordiscovery.com

Treatment Model: All of Center For Discovery’s locations are Joint Commission accredited and state licensed—the gold standard in healthcare today. Center For Discovery programs are staffed with eating disorder specialists including Certified Eating Disorder Specialists (CEDS) and Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitians (CEDRD). We maintain small, intimate milieus (treating a maximum of eight clients at a time), with separate facilities for adolescents and adults, because we believe that individualized attention is critical when it comes to providing effective and efficient treatment. Further, because treatment occurs in a home, and not a hospital, it provides greater transferability and internalization of the experience to life after discharge. Upon admission, every client is assessed by a multidisciplinary treatment team and provided with a comprehensive treatment plan. Our hands-on dietary program is second to none and includes individualized meal planning and preparation, exposures, restaurant and grocery store outings, as well as kitchen skills and nutrition groups. In addition, each client receives a minimum of six individual sessions per week: one each with the psychiatrist, physician, and registered dietitian, and three with their primary therapist.

Treatment involves multiple therapeutic modalities including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), body movement dance, yoga and equine-assisted psychotherapy (EAP). At Center For Discovery, family involvement is vital to our program. Families have numerous opportunities to participate in their loved ones treatment including weekly family therapy, visitation and passes, and individual therapeutic family meals. At Center For Discovery, we are driven by results and our goal is to provide the best, most effective eating disorder treatment in the field. Center For Discovery has an 18 year legacy and employs several unique interventions and technology that facilitates more effective ongoing communication with family members and outpatient providers during and after treatment. We routinely watch clients make great strides during treatment and to ensure that those gains are maintained after discharge we place particular emphasis on facilitating seamless transitions between levels of care. To this end, we are partnered with the Feinstein Institute for Biomedical Research to measure outcomes by examining the process of treatment, how clients fare post-discharge, and readmission rates. The data suggest that not only are improvements maintained, but that Center For Discovery clients actually continue to improve following their discharge. Our focus on thorough discharge planning comes from a well-documented understanding that it is the transition between levels of care that is typically the most challenging for clients. For this same reason, we work to continually expand our continuum of care and to provide residential (RTC,), partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) to the community.

Our Discovery Connect program keeps families and outpatient professionals involved every step of the way. At Center For Discovery the emphasis on long-term recovery is not only about the diagnosed issues, it is about the contributing factors that underlie those conditions. Center For Discovery developed a proprietary program over the course of two decades which means that both evidenced-based and individualized treatment is provided to every client. In addition, every client is assessed on an ongoing basis using the Recovery Report Card which identifies client’s current functioning over 10 criteria. These criteria are based on the American Psychiatric Association guidelines and have been extremely well received by eating disorder professionals and insurance companies. Center For Discovery treats co-occurring substance use, self-injury, and underlying trauma or mood disorders as well as offers separate residential substance abuse and mental health programs. Center For Discovery offers free weekly support groups throughout the country, and a Free recovery app http://www.discoveryinrecovery.com/. See a virtual tour of any of Center For Discovery’s locations here. Center For Discovery is also in network with all major insurance companies and provides complimentary insurance benefit verification and free, confidential assessments.  On satisfaction surveys from more than 2000 clients and families over 95% said that they would recommend Center For Discovery. Treatment Model: Welcome. Deciding to enter or re-enter counseling can be a difficult decision. My first goal is to provide a supportive and accepting environment. I consider myself to be easy going and non-judgmental. Life can be difficult and full of struggles. I find that my clients are doing the best that they can under their circumstances, and are dealing with ways of coping that have become maladaptive. Approaches I use to treat eating disorder symptoms include, but are not limited to, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and expressive therapies. I also treat co-existing or underlying issues, such as self-esteem, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, and self-injurious behaviors. I see my role as a counselor as the following 1) To assist in reduction of eating disorder symptoms, as well as symptoms of co-occurring disorder 2)To assist in development of healthy coping skills 3)To assist my clients in achieving better self-acceptance 4)To work alongside my clients on their paths of healing, self-growth, and personal fulfillment. I work with clients of most ages. In addition to individual counseling, I provide family counseling. I find that it is often very difficult for family members of individuals with eating disorders to understand and cope with the temporary loss of their loved one to the eating disorder. I am open to providing support and resources to family members of individuals struggling with eating disorders. I have seen the majority of my clients recover from the eating disorder, and want to emphasize that there is hope! I continue to develop my skills as a counselor through personal research and trainings. I strive to offer a supportive environment to my clients that will facilitate self-growth and recovery. Most importantly, I enjoy what I do! Please feel free to contact me with questions.
