Located on nine wooded acres, Fairhaven exists to provide sanctuary and therapeutic support to individuals struggling to transcend the mental, physical and emotional health crises that frequently result from disordered eating. Symptom control is foundational but true recovery requires much more. It requires a range of treatment protocols recognized as the standard of care for eating disorders and the often co-occurring problems including depression, anxiety, and other complicating variables. In addition, successful recovery requires a multidisciplinary approach using psychiatric, psychological, nutritional and community resources. We place high priority on caring for a maximum of ten residential clients at any one time. While conveniently located close to the services and amenities Memphis has to offer, Fairhaven is in a secluded setting where it is not uncommon to see deer grazing in our wooded acreage. Treatment Model: People who decide to address their issues with food and body image have reached a point where an eating disorder seems to be controlling their life.  As the obsession with food and body shape/weight takes up more mental and physical energy, they have difficulty managing other aspects of their life (school, work, relationships).  I work with clients to restore balance in their lives.  Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we work to change thoughts, feelings and behaviors that are keeping them stuck in their eating disorder.  Additionally, we use Psychodynamic principles to understand subconscious motivations that may be reinforcing their eating disorder symptoms.

Ms. Scarlata treats Anorexia and Bulimia; males and females, adolescents and adults. She also works with Food Addiction, Binge Eating Disorder, Bariatric Surgery Assistance, Obesity, Compulsive Overeating, Night Eating Syndrome, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD).
