The EDI's primary psychotherapeutic methodology is based in cognitive behavioral theory/therapy. They also incorporate dialectical behavior therapy skills, and interpersonal therapy. In addition, they have spirituality groups run by our chaplain on staff. For those with co-morbid chemical dependency issues, they have a dual track in which the patient co-programs into CD groups located on site. Patients also receive weekly individual and family therapy. Families are almost always involved in treatment and are also offered a monthly extended educational and therapeutic session to address their needs. They offer inpatient and partial hospitalization eating disorder treatment for adults and adolescents at their hospital location at MeritCare South University. They have been offering outpatient eating disorders treatment since 1996 at their Neuroscience location with Dr. James Mitchell and Dr. Stephen Wonderlich as co-directors.
