Treatment Model: I treat the whole person: body/mind/soul. My approach is a combination of cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and interpersonal psychotherapy. I also offer nutritional counseling utilizing a non-diet approach. I, myself, have recovered from anorexia and bulimia, giving me unique insights and the ability to empathize with my clients. I am passionate about helping others find freedom from eating disorders. I also treat clients struggling with self-injury, adjustment problems, anxiety/depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and a history of sexual or physical abuse. These conditions often co-occur with eating disorders. I routinely provide referrals for medical care, pharmacology, dietitian services, and support and/or therapy groups. Periodically, family members will be included in sessions.

Treating the emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects of eating disorders and related conditions is my aim. My personal approach to healing is Christ-centered; however, I respect the beliefs of all my clients, and spiritual issues will be discussed only if clients express a desire to do so. I do not file insurance, but will provide clients with the necessary paperwork so that they can file on their own for reimbursement. I accept cash or checks.

fosters the exploration for clients regarding each component of the nature of
their eating disorder, emotionally, cognitively and physically. Experiential

warranted.

EMDR can be successful in the treatment of trauma that may be related to the
eating disorder. Sequences of eye movements are done until the memory of the
event or trauma becomes less disturbing and is more associated with positive
beliefs and thoughts. EMDR has an effect on the way that the brain processes
information. When normal processing is resumed after a series of EMDR sessions,
a client no longer relives the feelings, impressions and sounds when the
traumatic event is brought to mind. The client will have the memory but the
event is not longer distressing. This helps the person relate to other people
and situations in a more positive and healthy way. This mode of EMDR therapy can
be used as an adjunct with art therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy.

A Bridge to Recovery is an independent, comprehensive outpatient treatment center specializing in treating adults who suffer from substance abuse, sexual addictions, co-occurring disorders, eating disorders and trauma. Instead of the "cookie cutter" approach of many outpatient treatment programs, they assist their clients in recognizing and focusing on the underlying issues that fuel addiction. They use a 12-step approach and address the underlying issues including trauma and family of origin issues. They believe addictive disorders affect physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well being of an individual so they employ a multi-disciplinary staff who uses an eclectic approach to meet each individual client's needs.
