Treatment Model: I believe that each person's journey toward authenticity and peace is unique to them. I believe that you can get there when thereís a unique alliance between therapist and client thatís authentic, dynamic and supportive. My relational approach helps to create that alliance. Together, we co-create a relationship thatís relaxed, comfortable, warm and conversational. That allows room to uncover your unique narrative, conflicts and ways of being in the world. Expect me to be authentic and compassionate, but also direct and incisive. As we strengthen our therapeutic relationship, we look evermore closely at unconscious sources of undesirable behaviors. Together, we will work through painful memories and difficult issues. Early in life, people can adopt certain behaviors as ways to cope with very real hardships. Maybe they seemed helpful at the time. But, these maladaptive behaviors have a way of causing problems of their own. Often they are responsible for the triggers and other symptoms that prevent you from becoming your authentic self. This psychodynamic approach seeks to reveal a problemís origins. And, by understanding underlying emotions and other issues, we can change behavior and reverse destructive patterns. Laying bare unconscious sources of trouble can ease the pain of eating disorders, depression, anxiety or other issues that lead you to seek comfort.

My desire to delve deep and focus on clientsí unique needs is one of the reasons I went into private practice. It frees me from narrow methodologies, rigid processes and a preconceptions of what healing should look like. That freedom lets me create an environment thatís intimate, warm, respectful and encouraging. In this atmosphere, you and I can co-create your own, personal path to a higher quality of life. While I offer expertise in eating disorders and eating dysfunction, I also can help you address a range of issues that includes relationship problems, gender identity, trauma and PTSD. In addition to my relational, psychodynamic approach, I often draw on my experience with non-violent communication, as wells as with narrative, humanistic and existential therapies.
