Treatment Model: After fifteen years of experience working with adult men and women and adolescents with eating disorders, I have come to learn that a highly collaborative and team-based approach is most helpful. The primary vehicle for change is a strong relationship within which I work to help my clients understand the nature of their eating and/or body image struggles, the purposes they serve, and within which we can develop helpful strategies to gradually let go of symptoms. Only when ready, clients find that they are able to replace their symptoms with more progressive and life-affirming behaviors, attitudes, and beliefs. I would characterize my approach as insight-oriented and interpersonal, with a solution focus when needed. I also encourage and sometimes require that my clients engage in work with nutritional, psychiatric and other kinds of professional to provide the most comprehensive treatment experience possible. She can work with you individually to develop a healthy relationship with food and to explore any emotional issues that affect your overeating. Or you can join a support group where you can benefit from sharing with others who are also working to end overeating, build a positive body image and to live a happy, healthy life.
