Treatment Model: I work from a psychodynamic approach, and am specifically influenced by Self Psychology, Object Relations, Attachment Theory, Transpersonal Psychology and Intersubjective Psychoanalysis. These models all use the therapeutic relationship to help an individual understand how food has become a substitute for identity and emotional and relational needs. The therapeutic relationship and insight gained is used to develop new capacities for feeling, thinking, eating, and relating to others.

Additional Communities Served: Denver Metro, CU Boulder
Treatment Model: Focusing on the mind-body connection, I provide individual psychotherapy for adolescents and adults with a variety of goals, including trauma and eating disorder recovery, relationship issues, adjustment to college, and anxiety reduction. I view symptoms simply as information or a "map" of unprocessed material, rather than a detriment or something "wrong" with you. My approach is eclectic and tailored to fit the needs of each individual I work with. This may include psychodynamic psychotherapy, mindfulness exercises, cognitive behavioral techniques or Somatic Experiencing. For individuals working to recover from eating disorders, I also offer therapeutic meal support. I believe in a holistic approach, and often collaborate with body workers, acupuncturists, nutritionists, and other healing professionals.

Individual Therapy/Private Practice, College/University Counseling Program, Couples Therapy
2027 11th Street, Boulder, CO
Additional Communities Served: Louisville, Superior, Broomfield, Longmont, Niwot, Westminster, University of Colorado
Treatment Model: My practice is geared towards adults and adolescents who are struggling with body image concerns and eating issues, such as emotional eating, binge eating, anorexia nervosa, and bulimia nervosa. Eating disorders often serve as coping tools for more serious and painful underlying issues. I work with clients to uncover these underlying issues, the various functions the eating disorder has served in their life, and the meaning of the disordered eating behaviors. Individuals who struggle with eating disorders tend to have difficulty tolerating painful feelings and use their relationship with food as a way to manage these feelings. I help clients explore healthy ways to cope with feeling out of control and with feelings of shame, sadness, and anger. I also work with people struggling with relationship issues, anxiety, depression, and stress management.
Dr. Weller treats Anorexia and Bulimia; males and females, adolescents and adults. She also works with Athletes, Compulsive Exercisers, Laxative Abuse, Binge Eating Disorder, Compulsive Overeating and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
