8669 E. San Alberto Drive, Suite 100, Scottsdale, AZ
Additional Communities Served: Tempe, Paradise Valley, Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Glendale, Phoenix
Treatment Model: I believe each client is unique in his/her process of recovery. After a thorough assessment, a treatment plan is designed to ensure the right path of treatment in therapy. At the beginning stages of therapy, we work on behavior change to break the unhealthy eating patterns that have emerged. Anxiety management is incorporated at this stage as well. After behavior change is implemented, a deeper process emerges in therapy where we focus more on the underlying issues that triggered the eating disorder. I believe in fostering a safe and nurturing environment to promote healing and recovery. I primarily use cognitive-behavioral therapy yet am also eclectic.

Deidre Bliss, LPC has an established private practice in Scottsdale, Arizona where she specializes in working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. She has over 12 years of experience working with a variety of eating disorders. She is a warm and empathic person who emphasizes results and solutions in her counseling.
After working with clients for 20 years, I learned the importance of incorporating an individualized plan for each client depending on the assessment determined on the first session. I believe is essential to build a trusting relationship with the client and truly listen and understand what is going on in their lives. I also incorporate a solution-focused approach to help facilitate change in the client's everyday life. Although I am an overall eclectic therapist, I am a passionate believer in the benefits of Cognitive Behavioral therapy. I was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from the Department of the Army for my exemplary support during the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attack on the Pentagon. I provided the essential services to those affected by the attack and helped the victims begin the recovery process.
I facilitate a weekly women's eating disorder therapy group on Tuesdays from 5:30-7:00 p.m.

I take a very personalized approach and meet the patient where they are as I guide them gently through recovery. I am flexible, but firm and have "heard it all" as they say. I am confident that although eating disorders can be very difficult to treat, they are manageable and you can recover to go on to a productive and healthy life.

Treatment Model: Mirasol's treatment model was developed in the late 1990s by Jeanne Rust, PhD. Mirasol's model is dedicated to the integrative treatment of anorexia, bulimia and binge eating, mood disorders, trauma, and chronic illness. It is gentle treatment, not "boot camp" style. At Mirasol we treat adult women and adolescent boys and girls. Everyone is treated with dignity and respect regardless of age. We believe that eating disorders are the result of chronic stress and trauma, and emphasize therapies that have proven successful in the treatment of other stress-related conditions. Instead of focusing on suppressing eating disorder symptoms, we identify the root of the problem and develop new ways of communicating and coping that restore and maintain overall balance.
Our multidisciplinary treatment team consists of psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, nurses, doctors and dietitians who work closely with practitioners of alternative medicine, including neurofeedback, bodywork, acupuncture, and Oriental medicine, EMDR, somatic experiencing, equine therapy and adventure therapy. We have a nutritionist who is specifically certified for treating athletes. Cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and effective alternative interventions form the foundation for successful treatment. We offer residential treatment programs for teen girls and boys, ages 12 to 17 and for women 18 and up. Our Transformational Living Program (Partial Hospitalization Program) is an intensive day program. Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is extremely effective. Aftercare consists of Focused Continuing Care (FCC). FCC is a unique aftercare program (developed by Betty Ford) that provides ongoing telephone counseling and support for a year after the client leaves treatment. FCC is essential for long-lasting recovery and if clients follow the year-long aftercare program, 85% of them will be recovered at one year. The Mirasol programs are CARF accredited.
Mirasol treats Anorexia and Bulimia; children, adolescents, and adult women. They also work with Compulsive Exercisers, Athletes, Binge Eating Disorder, Obesity, Compulsive Overeating, Night Eating Syndrome, Laxative Abuse, Bariatric Surgery Assistance, Rumination Syndrome, PICA, Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD).
