Believing full recovery is possible, they offer intensive outpatient programs and services to men and women, age 16 and older, struggling with an eating disorder. Their mission is to provide accessible, comprehensive, multi-disciplinary, collaborative treatment for those suffering from eating disorders and their families and loved ones. Their team has more than 75-plus years combined experience treating eating disorders in a variety of settings.
We are now accepting clients for participation in our day treatment, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs, including evenings and Saturdays. Dr. Bowman relies heavily on a team approach with physicians and nutritionists. He has worked with many severe cases of eating disorders ranging from 9 years of age to late fifties. One of his primary goals and one that he has found to be effective is to educate families to provide supportive roles rather than treatment roles. As a former collegiate athlete and practicing sports psychologist, he works with patients to develop fit, healthy bodies, rather than just putting on pounds or taking them off.

Their goal is to work collaboratively with residents throughout the process of healing. Interventions are based on the most current treatments in the field of eating disorders. Although there are core components to their program, their curriculum is tailored to the individual. Groups and individual therapy sessions are designed to meet each resident's educational, spiritual, emotional, and experiential needs to promote active healing, restoration, and recovery.
Magnolia Creek treats anorexia, bulimia, eating disorders not otherwise specified and exercise addiction in adult women. Magnolia Creek also works with Binge Eating Disorder, Food Addiction, Compulsive Overeating, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD).

Magnolia Creek provides residential treatment for women ages 18 and older struggling with eating disorders. Their center is located just outside of Birmingham, Alabama, peacefully situated on 36 wooded acres next to its own private 5-acre lake. They admit only 10 residents at a time in order to provide focused, comprehensive, and personalized care. Their program is designed to provide a holistic treatment experience, addressing the medical, psychological, nutritional, spiritual, and relational needs of their residents. Magnolia Creek holds a three-year Accreditation by The Joint Commission and is licensed by the state of Alabama.
Magnolia Creek now offers, in addition to its residential program, a comprehensive partial-hospitalization program tailored to the client's unique needs. Clients participate in both individual and group therapy and also meet regularly with the program's medical director, nurse and dietitian. They receive two meals a day and snacks at the facility and are provided with nutrition education, cooking classes, meal vouchers and grocery vouchers to purchase and prepare evening and weekend meals at home. Magnolia Creek's PHP program capacity is eight and clients reside offsite They do have the option of living in our furnished apartments nearby.
