Treatment Model: My approach is psychoanalytic and is informed by feminism. I believe people suffering from eating disorders like anorexia or bulimia can benefit greatly from psychoanalytic therapy. It is imperative that they work through their often dangerous symptoms in relation to the confusing underlying dynamics that cause them. Depending on the severity, treating eating disorders may also require a team of professionals--psychiatrists, nutritionists, and internists who also specialize in eating disorders--and local outpatient programs. Treatment Model: Jean has worked with adolescents and women with eating disorders for over 25 years. Her approach is psychodynamic. In her approach, Jean helps the patient explore past and present relationships and experiences for the purpose of finding the underlying cause of the compulsion. She believes that as the patient is helped to work through the feelings and thoughts that drive the addictive behavior , the patient becomes free from the disorder and free to choose more life-affirming behaviors. Over her career in this work, Jean has been a featured speaker on the subject of eating disorders on the radio, including KGO and KFRC, as well as in person in various venues.

Ms. Hayek treats Bulimia in adolescent and adult women.
