Treatment Model: We know what it is to believe that your worth is determined by your waist size or the number on the scale. We know the pain of self-judgment, feeling not good enough, not thin enough. We know what it is to stand in the kitchen, facing the bottom of the ice-cream container, feeling terrible and wondering, why did I just do that? If you've had an inkling (or full-blown realization) that your food and weight issues are about more than food or weight, we invite you to contact us. We would be honored to share what we've experienced ourselves - that it is possible to find peace with food and peace with your body. We also want you to know that you are enough, exactly as you are right now. You always have been. Even if you don't believe it yet.

Ms. Levin treats Compulsive Overeating, Food Addiction, Binge Eating Disorder, and Bulimia. She works with women and men 18 years and older, including athletes and compulsive exercisers.

Treating Eating Disorders Since the Year: 1998

Payment Options: Cash/Check, Credit Cards, Sliding Scale

In addition to traditional therapy, we offer hypnosis and EMDR. Julie works with men and couples who are affected by food/weight issues, and Jill works with adolescents and families. For details about how we work, please visit our website or call for a free consultation. Please note that as  private practitioners, we are not available for emergency services and do not work with clients who require more intensive care. While we do not take insurance directly, I am happy to provide a monthly statement which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Many PPOs are willing to pay for out-of-network providers.

Eric W. Anders, Ph.D., Psy.D., Licensed Research Psychoanalyst RP202

Individual Therapy/Private Practice

1600 S. Main Street, Suite 240, Walnut Creek, CA

Second Office located in Oakland, CA

Office: 510-686-3401

Website: www.EastBayPsychoanalyst.com

Email: eric@anders.net

Treatment Model: My approach is psychoanalytic and is informed by feminism. I believe people suffering from eating disorders like anorexia or bulimia can benefit greatly from psychoanalytic therapy. It is imperative that they work through their often dangerous symptoms in relation to the confusing underlying dynamics that cause them. Depending on the severity, treating eating disorders may also require a team of professionals--psychiatrists, nutritionists, and internists who also specialize in eating disorders--and local outpatient programs. In both Oakland and Walnut Creek, I have a network of these professionals and programs established.

Dr. Anders treats Anorexia and Bulimia in adults. He also works with Athletes and Compulsive Exercisers, Food Addiction, Binge Eating Disorder, Obesity, Night Eating Syndrome, Compulsive Overeating, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD)

In her approach, Jean helps the patient explore past and present relationships and experiences for the purpose of finding the underlying cause of the compulsion.  She believes that as the patient is helped to work through the feelings and thoughts that drive the addictive behavior , the patient becomes free from the disorder and free to choose more life-affirming behaviors. Over her career in this work, Jean has been a featured speaker on the subject of eating disorders  on the radio, including KGO and KFRC,  as well as  in person in various venues.

Ms. Hayek treats Bulimia in adolescent and adult women. Besides treating Bulimia, Jean also works with patients suffering from Compulsive Overeating , Binge Eating Disorder,Obesity, Compulsive Excercising, Food Addiction,Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and with adults suffering from early childhood trauma.

Support Groups: On-going, in-depth support groups for women suffering from bulimia or other compulsive eating disorders. In a safe and supportive environment find out more about: the relationship between stress in your life and overeating, why diets don't work, your attitudes, beliefs and feelings which trigger the urge to overeat and purge, new ways to nurture yourself and take charge of your life.

Jean also works with individuals who have experienced early childhood trauma. She enjoys working with individuals in depth and receives great satisfaction from seeing them change and live happier more productive lives. In any work with clients the approach is consistent with the client's specific needs.  Jean also collaborates with other professionals, doctors, nutritionists and psychiatrists when appropriate.
