Treatment Model: Overcoming the shame and defensiveness that that is usually
associated with eating disorders is a prerequisite to successful treatment.
Clients frequently say that I'm "easy to talk to" and feel comfortable revealing
their thoughts and feelings about their eating, weight, body image, and
relationship issues. I help clients put their mixed feelings into words so that
we can examine them, resolve the conflicts, and develop adaptive strategies for
dealing with life's challenges instead of focusing on food, eating, and weight.
I've been working with clients with eating and weight issues for more than 30
years. I was the Director of the outpatient Eating Disorders Center at Chico
Community Hospital and I've written 5 books on the topic including "Emotional
Eating" and the newly published, "It's NOT Just Baby Fat! 10 Steps to Help Your
Child to a Healthy Weight."
