Summit Eating Disorders and Outreach Program is dedicated to the prevention and treatment of eating disorders. The program consists of a team of multidisciplinary professionals working together to provide services to people with eating disorders. The program seeks to provide a safe, supportive and nurturing environment where people can heal from the guilt, shame and destructive thinking that often accompanies anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder. The primary goal is to help people experience the freedom of recovery.
Summit’s Day Treatment program: The Day Treatment Program is designed to provide a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where participants can continue to work toward emotional and physical well being. The Day Treatment Program provides comprehensive and compassionate treatment by staff who have specialized training in the treatment of eating disorders and genuinely care about recovery. Comprised of a holistic approach involving group therapy, individual therapy, and nutrition counseling, our goal is to help our clients understand and address the underlying issues that contribute to their eating disorder. The clients who participate in this program are medically stable, but require a more intense daily program than the Intensive Outpatient Program can provide. This option includes daily monitoring by the clinic nurse, weekly physician and psychiatry care, daily therapeutic meals, daily group and individual therapy, nutritional counseling, and relapse prevention. Issues addressed in treatment include interpersonal relationships, cognitive distortions, behavioral changes, and outside influences.
Summit’s Intensive Outpatient program: Summit's goal for the Intensive Outpatient Program is to provide sufficient support to help individuals recover from the personal and interpersonal destruction that often accompanies eating disorders. This program provides a structured and comprehensive treatment approach for those suffering from moderate to severe eating disorders but do not require day treatment or a residential program. Comprised of a holistic approach involving group therapy, individual therapy, and nutrition counseling, our goal is to help our clients understand and address the underlying issues that contribute to their eating disorder. Individual treatment plans include group and individual therapy in a safe, supportive environment. Each client receives an individualized treatment plan that depends on their individual therapeutic needs. Most plans include individual and group therapy, therapeutic meal, nutritional counseling, family therapy, physician and psychiatric care.
Summit’s Binge-Eating Disorder program: Our treatment program is designed to treat those suffering from binge-eating disorder in a supportive, caring environment. Comprised of a holistic approach involving group therapy, individual therapy, and nutrition counseling, our goal is to help our clients understand and address the underlying issues that contribute to binge eating. Binge-eating disorder is characterized by recurrent, persistent episodes of binge eating that occur without regular compensatory behaviors intended to prevent weight gain. Among the issues addressed in treatment are interpersonal relationships, societal influences, and cognitive distortions. Both options include case management services such as weekly treatment reviews, monthly reports to the client’s primary care physician, and coordination of care with the primary care physician. The group is open to new members entering at any point. The group is an Experiential-based group focusing on a topic which includes process work done in a group setting.
