I believe that I have a good amount of personal experience with eating disorders. I was anorexic for a few months during a troubled period in my youth. I remember believing that I was eating too much, when I wasn't. But my struggle was not as severe as that of many people and I have been eating more and more healthily for decades. A close family member of mine was bulimic during adolescence and never told me; so I have personal experience around the shame that often accompanies these disorders.
