She includes a combination of approaches once again depending on the needs of the client. These approaches can include psychodynamic as well as cognitive behavioral interventions. She also runs a weekly psychotherapy group for women with eating disorders. If indicated, Karen uses hypnotherapy as a way of accessing the unconscious and as a technique for dealing with anxiety. Treatment Philosophy: Our treatment approach provides education, support and practical feedback to help patients understand and resolve long-standing behavior patterns, habits and coping skills that have simply become too emotionally and physically expensive. In part by becoming more sensitive and compassionate with oneself, patients can learn to identify new ways of coping without also negatively affecting their bodies and/or important relationships. I prefer a team approach utilizing nutrition, psychiatry, family education and medical support when possible.
