Monte Nido Vista is a unique 10 bed facility nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Santa Monica mountains on the edge of Malibu State park just 15 minutes from the beach. The Monte Nido Vista program places a high priority on individualized plans and individual therapy for anorexia treatment, bulimia treatment, and exercise addiction, as provided by Carolyn Costin, LMFT and Community Counseling.
Carolyn Costin, the founder and clinical director, believes that individuals with eating disorders can be "recovered" where the goal is not only the absence of symptoms, but the resolution of whatever problems or needs the disordered behaviors are trying to express.
Payment Options: Cash/Check, Credit Cards, will assist with billing insurance
"Eating and exercise disorders are progressive and debilitating illnesses requiring medical, nutritional and psychological intervention. Individuals suffering from these disorders often need a structured environment to achieve recovery. However, all too often a person does well in a highly structured, regimented environment only to fall into relapse upon returning to a less structured situation. Our residential programs for anorexia treatment, bulimia treatment and exercise addiction treatment are designed to meet the individual needs of clients and their families in a way that gives them an increasingly higher level of responsibility and "teaches" them how to recover and sustain it. The atmosphere at Monte Nido and its affiliate programs, is professional and structured, but it is also warm, friendly, and family-like. We use highly dedicated staff members, many of whom are recovered themselves, thus serving as excellent role models. Our philosophy and environment inspires people to commit to overcoming obstacles that are interfering with the quality of their lives."

Eating disorders are extremely complex. I believe that in order to help clients the therapist must work at several levels. Ultimately it is essential that underlying issues are identified, understood and in some way resolved. At the same time, behavior changes need to take place. Clients need hands on tools that they can use immediately. They need to learn how to identify and tolerate painful feeling without turning to food, purging or restrictive behavior to cope. From the first session I offer tools to make these changes.

"As someone who once faced death head on due to my E.D., I know the unfathomable despair involved. I also know, just as equally, that absolutely recovery exists! My firm belief of this affliction is the affliction of our "ego" and our need to be "special". The truth is you always were... The empowering coaching work that I do comes from my own experience fighting with death. The importance of "safety" i.e.: trust in the therapist is vital in order for recovery to happen. We must be willing, no matter how uncomfortable or "scary" to be 100% honest. Personal accountability, integrity, compassion towards SELF first, and having experienced, loving highly trained and gifted professionals traveling along beside you will make all the difference for you. My first priority always is you, the patient. When I work with another human my prayer is to be a faucet for which the healing truth can enter, then we, together can look, feel, see, and most importantly take action towards life!"
