Treatment Model: My approach to Eating Disorders treatment is informed by
Evidenced-Based Practice. I use CBT, DBT, psychodynamic and Relational-Cultural
Theory as stepping stones to the healing process. Recovery is a dynamic and
energetic process. I work with many patients who have co-occurring diagnoses,
such as chemical dependency and eating disorders. This is my niche in the ED
field in this area. Many patients find this dualistic understanding extremely
helpful in a powerful way, combining the best of two treatment models for a
complete recovery. A new way of living is emphasized.
Ms. Flosdorf-Mitchell treats Anorexia and Bulimia; males and females,
adolescents and adults. She also works with Athletes, Compulsive Exercisers,
Binge Eating Disorder, Obesity, Compulsive Overeating, Laxative Abuse and
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
Treating Eating Disorders since the Year: 1986
Payment Options: Cash/Check, Insurance, Sliding Scale -- I am an
"out-of-network" provider for local insurers. Most Flexible Spending Accounts
will cover my services.
I run an on-going CBT/DBT Eating Disorders Group on Saturday mornings. This
group can be an adjunct to individual therapy for Eating Disorders and can be
used as an "after-care" group from in-patient or PHP settings. In addition, it
can be used as a safe environment to work on issues while waiting for a higher
level of care (in-patient or PHP). This is a great way to continue the journey
of recovery. The group is on-going, with a focus on learning skills for
living without the Eating Disorder. Treatment modalities emphasized will be
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy provided in a
supportive, growth-enhancing environment.

Treatment Model: The only residential program of its kind in New York State is led by a multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals including nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical therapists, dietitians, residential counselors, and physicians. The program offers at least 20 group therapies per individual per week with an additional 8 plus hours of individual and family therapies. Therapeutic sessions use empirically-based approaches to focus on client needs, including addressing co-occurring disorders such as chemical dependency, anxiety and depression. Families are vital components in adolescent recovery plans. From admission through discharge and after care, we work with families to help them develop and modify recovery plans with their health care professionals. While the program focuses on the interruption and stabilization of the client’s eating disorder symptoms, family members will experience hands-on, family-based therapy sessions to learn about eating disorders and recovery at home.
