Life is often filled with challenges which affect each of us in different ways. I believe that how we approach and overcome those challenges, help to shape us and allow us to experience life to the fullest. I began my Marriage and Family Psychotherapy practice here in Glendora out of a desire to use my life experience, education, and passion to help serve the health needs of our community and the surrounding cities. Through my experience in a variety of settings, I have discovered that building a supportive relationship through therapy creates a safe place to explore life struggles, understand difficult issues, learn new skills, enrich relationships, and work through situations in order to lead a more fulfilling life. Therefore, creating a safe and supportive environment, where you can feel comfortable, is essential to my practice. In that setting, we can collaborate on how best to understand your situation, identify your goals, and find solutions. I bring a varied theoretical approach, centered on forms of therapy including psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy, brief/solution focused, and ensuring sensitivity to cultural diversity. My services include counseling individuals (adults and adolescents), families, and couples. My primary areas of expertise are eating disorders, anxiety, depression, family and couples therapy, as well as endometriosis counseling.

Many people, because of their eating disorder have lost the ability to be creative through music, dance, writing, etc. Through a step by step approach, I assist clients to regain, in a healthy way, their creativity.  I also work with pet loss and grief in general.

There are two ongoing process oriented therapy groups available. Commitment is taken very seriously, therefore, regular weekly attendance is required, as is an initial screening interview. Both groups consist of a mixed population of eating disordered clients and the age range is between eighteen and sixty. The focus is on the feelings underlying the eating disorders rather than the behaviors. Topics such as childhood issues, family, relationships, friendships and life transitions are discussed as well as, here and now interpersonal interactions within the groups. Both groups meet on Monday evenings. The first is slightly more structured and runs from six O'clock pm to seven-thirty at a cost of $80 per month. The second is for those who have some recovery and it meets from seven-thirty to nine O'clock pm at $120 per month.

It is not a quick weight loss program but rather a psychological "no diet" approach created to help you discover the emotional connections to weight loss. We help you create a lifestyle that will support the changes in your weight and in your life. We created a program that breaks everything down into small "do" able steps. The support of the group is powerful. With Conscious Eating™ psychotherapists leading the groups, there is a feeling of safety and protection.  This program is a great adjunct to individual psychotherapy by breaking through the food barrier and providing a great catalyst for more indepth work on core issues.
