Life is often filled with challenges which affect each of us in different ways. I believe that how we approach and overcome those challenges, help to shape us and allow us to experience life to the fullest. I began my Marriage and Family Psychotherapy practice here in Glendora out of a desire to use my life experience, education, and passion to help serve the health needs of our community and the surrounding cities. Through my experience in a variety of settings, I have discovered that building a supportive relationship through therapy creates a safe place to explore life struggles, understand difficult issues, learn new skills, enrich relationships, and work through situations in order to lead a more fulfilling life. Therefore, creating a safe and supportive environment, where you can feel comfortable, is essential to my practice. In that setting, we can collaborate on how best to understand your situation, identify your goals, and find solutions. I bring a varied theoretical approach, centered on forms of therapy including psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy, brief/solution focused, and ensuring sensitivity to cultural diversity. My services include counseling individuals (adults and adolescents), families, and couples. My primary areas of expertise are eating disorders, anxiety, depression, family and couples therapy, as well as endometriosis counseling.

Therapy is a collaborative process where we work together to better understand the nature of your personal difficulties. Eating disorders are complex and need to be addressed by an experienced professional who will help you to connect with your inner self, discover your true needs, and move your life forward in a positive direction.
My philosophy of treatment is psychodynamic, but I will work with you on an individually designed treatment plan that may include cognitive-behavioral techniques, journal writing, and artistic expression. I will also work with your physician, nutritionist, and other allied health professionals to facilitate your treatment and promote your physical and psychological well-being. In psychotherapy, we strive to support those aspects of your creativity that are life-enhancing and fulfilling. At the same time, we address creative blocks and artistic challenges. Many people, because of their eating disorder have lost the ability to be creative through music, dance, writing, etc. Through a step by step approach, I assist clients to regain, in a healthy way, their creativity. I also work with pet loss and grief in general.
There are two ongoing process oriented therapy groups available. Commitment is taken very seriously, therefore, regular weekly attendance is required, as is an initial screening interview. Both groups consist of a mixed population of eating disordered clients and the age range is between eighteen and sixty. The focus is on the feelings underlying the eating disorders rather than the behaviors. Topics such as childhood issues, family, relationships, friendships and life transitions are discussed as well as, here and now interpersonal interactions within the groups. Both groups meet on Monday evenings. The first is slightly more structured and runs from six O'clock pm to seven-thirty at a cost of $80 per month. The second is for those who have some recovery and it meets from seven-thirty to nine O'clock pm at $120 per month.
