Treatment Model: My approach is psychoanalytic and is informed by feminism. I believe people suffering from eating disorders like anorexia or bulimia can benefit greatly from psychoanalytic therapy. It is imperative that they work through their often dangerous symptoms in relation to the confusing underlying dynamics that cause them. Depending on the severity, treating eating disorders may also require a team of professionals--psychiatrists, nutritionists, and internists who also specialize in eating disorders--and local outpatient programs. In both Oakland and Walnut Creek, I have a network of these professionals and programs established.
