Hi, I am Dr. Peg Bailey and have been in private practice for 29 years, first as a Masters level clinician and then with a Ph.D., doctorate in Psychology. I began my work with eating disorders while working on an inpatient adolescent unit, women's inpatient unit, and eating disorder inpatient and outpatient programs. My M.A. Research Project and Ph.D. Dissertation was on the subject of eating disorders. I believe that every eating disorder client is at a different level of need when entering treatment and I work with that client to give them what skills, information, or emotional changes to help work with the psychological aspects of the eating disorder. To do this I work with cognitive/behavioral, family/systemic, bio-chemical, and nutritional causes of eating disorders. I also work in a 'team approach' where professionals of other disciplines who specialize in eating disorders can give you their professional expertise. This is a physician of internal medicine who specializes in eating disorders, a specialized nutritionist and family counselor. I find that for adolescents it is helpful to the treatment to have the parents see their own counselor so they are a part of the treatment plan, yet give the adolescent some privacy in her/his own psychological care. If you have any questions, please telephone me at 408-358-4090.
