Eating Disorders Anonymous Support Groups: www.eatingdisordersanonymous.org. Treatment Model: 12 Step (not addictions model), Cognitive-Behavioral EDA is a voluntary fellowship of individuals who meet together to share solutions for and recovery from eating disorders. The only requirement for membership is a desire to recover from an eating disorder. Their primary purpose is to recover from our eating disorders and carry this message of recovery to others with eating disorders.

Birmingham, AL: The University of Alabama Hospital in
Birmingham Alabama is a Level 1 A Bariatric Center of Excellence by the American
College of Surgeon. We host three free weight loss support groups/seminars.
A. On the third Thursday of every month we host a support
group for pre and post op weight loss surgery patients in the south Alabama

Atascadero CA/San Luis Obispo County: Ongoing treatment/support group for those suffering from restricting, bingeing, purging and/or compulsive exercise. The group takes place in a confidential and caring setting where both tears and laughter are a part of the recovery process. The group process addresses eating disorder thoughts, feelings and behaviors, as well as often related issues such as relationships, grief and loss, sexual trauma and OCD. F.E.D. Support Group (Friends & family of people with eating disorders). Eating disorders are complex problems which impact anyone close to the person struggling. Many difficult and important decisions must be made about treatment, work, school, and other life events. FED group is an open community support group which provides education, support and strategies for coping with eating disorders in the home or within a social support network and offers guidance through difficult decision making. Facilitator: Ephrat Lipton, LCSW, is a board certified social worker who maintains a private practice on the Ridgeview campus, working with women’s issues. She is the former Clinical Coordinator of Women’s Services at Ridgeview and has worked on campus since 1993. Dates & Times: Mondays from 6:00 – 7:00pm. Classes will include people who may not have ED since it is designed for anyone who struggles with understanding or accepting emotions.
