Aliso Viejo, CA: New therapy groups now forming in South Orange County. Emphasis on understanding the connection between the symptoms of eating disorders and what underlies them. Healdsburg, CA: Full Living Support Group - an ongoing support group for those struggling with emotional eating- based in expressive arts, DBT, and spiritual psychology. I also offer groups and occasional workshops at different times throughout the year (call for more information). I do offer Nourishing the Self at different times. This is a structured, 12 week group based mainly in DBT and ACT- focusing on emotional regulation, developing self-compassion, and implementing positive coping skills. This group is structured but with lots of creativity! A new group is forming called Freedom from Sugar Addiction - for those who wish to eat less or no sugar due to physical and emotional sensitivities to sugar. This group will address the complexity of sugar cravings and sensitivities and how to live joyfully without sugar. La Verne CA: Eating Disorder Support Group. This is an ongoing group for highly motivated adults who want success in their recovery. The group is a combination of goals setting, here and now processing and self exploration. The group meets Wednesday evenings from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Lake Forest, CA: Family Resource/Support Group. This support group is appropriate for anyone whose loved one is or may be suffering from anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, compulsive overeating, or binge eating disorder. Participants learn about eating disorders, what they can and cannot do to help, and how to best manage the effects the disorder has on relationships. Licensed therapists specializing in eating disorders provide psychoeducation and tips to help families gain coping skills to better facilitate the recovery process. Denver, CO:  Eating Disorder Center of Denver (EDC-Denver) has the following groups. 1) Art Therapy Support Group.  This ongoing, weekly group utilizes art and creativity by incorporating various types of art media to facilitate a connection with others and self.  The group emphasizes mindfulness, self-discovery and the actions needed to maintain a recovery focus.  2) Aftercare Outpatient Process Group.  An open group consisting of individuals in recovery, who have completed an intense eating disorders program at EDC-D or other treatment program.  3) DBT Skills Training:  Didactic and experiential education in four different skill areas: core mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance.  4) Body Image 101: 12 Week ongoing group designed to facilitate the connection between a woman and her body.  A variety of cognitive, behavioral and experiential techniques are used to foster acceptance of the body in all its uniqueness. To participate in an Outpatient Support Group, call 866-771-0861 for information on support group times and fees. The goal of this group is to help the members develop skills for effectively living their lives without compulsively eating, binging, purging, not eating at all or compulsively exercising. Often we just don't have the skills needed to do so. This program was designed to help each member achieve an enhanced quality of life. Through the following modules: (1) Core Mindfulness –To increase self awareness and learn to focus effectively on one thing at a time. (2) Distress Tolerance Skills- Consist of techniques and crisis survival strategies. These skills help individuals to behave in a less impulsive and self-destructive manner. Montclair, NJ - Young Adult Eating Disorder Group. This weekly psychotherapy group is for young adult women struggling with anorexia and bulimia, ages 17- 28, approximately. The group will concentrate on your continuing recovery issues as it relates to addressing eating disordered thinking and behaviors and returning to full living in relation to socializing, relationships, school, and work. The focus is on the “dinosaur” of recovery – body image. Other themes that will be addressed are independence, separating from one’s family, adjusting to college, living on one’s own, being responsible for one’s own health and recovery. New York, NY - The Women's Therapy Centre Institute offers Four and Six Week Groups on Eating and Body Image Problems. These therapist led groups will look at the psychological issues behind the meaning of fat and thin, obsessive thinking, how to feed oneself when hungry and stop when full. It includes open discussion as well as CBT techniques, peer support and alternative coping skills building. When: Thursday evenings. Where: Scarsdale Office. Fee: The fee is $75 per weekly session with an initial minimum commitment of 10 sessions. An initial full bio-psychosocial assessment/screening is necessary to enter the group at a one-time fee of $200. West Chester OH: Group psychotherapy has been found to deepen and intensify psychotherapy as well as decrease the isolation that people with eating disorders experience. This structured group will reinforce skills learned in group sessions. This group is designed to help adults explore with others how to increase coping skills, improve interpersonal interaction, gain understanding of what causes and perpetuates eating disordered behaviors and identify cognitions, beliefs and behaviors that facilitate recovery.
